President & Founder

Alex Thomas is an experienced Clinical Accredited Sports Nutritionist. He is the Australasian Ambassador of the ISSN (International Society of Sports Nutrition).  He is co-creator of the Metabolic Health Screen (A health risk and contraindication identification and triage system – now imbedded in the MyPocketcoach platform), Founder of Sports Nutrition Australia > NewZealand > Asia, and now the Global Association (Sports Nutrition Association) and Sports Nutrition USA. 

His passion is in providing legitimate education, qualifications and insurance pathways to ensure the successful and sustainable career pathways for the profession of Sports Nutritionists.

We now have a unique opportunity to establish a significant meaningful impact and pride in what it is to hold the title of ‘Accredited Sports Nutritionist’ within the industry.

Eric Helms PhD, CSCS is drug-free bodybuilding and powerlifting science communicator. He coaches natural athletes as a part of team 3D Muscle Journey and publishes peer-reviewed academic articles and blogs about physique and strength sport. He speaks at academic and commercial conferences, appears on fitness, nutrition and exercise science podcasts and is active on social media. Eric has a PhD in Strength and Conditioning with a research focus on autoregulating powerlifting training, his research focus for his second masters was on protein and macronutrient manipulation for dieting bodybuilders, he did his first masters in exercise science and health promotion with a concentration on performance enhancement and injury prevention, he has a bachelors in fitness and wellness and he is currently a research fellow at the Sports Performance Research Institute New Zealand at Auckland University of Technology. As an athlete, Eric competes in strength and physique sport, he earned pro status as a natural bodybuilder with the PNBA in 2011 and competes in the IPF as an unequipped powerlifter.

Joseph Coyne is an exercise physiologist, sports scientist and sports nutritionist from Gold Coast, Australia. He is currently the Director of Athletic Development for Lindisfarne AGS. He has previously been the Physical Preparation Coach for the Chinese Athletics Association’s jump & sprints section; where he handled the rehabilitation and strength & power training for China’s best track & field athletes. Prior to that, he was the Performance Manager at the Chinese Olympic Committee’s National Sports Training Centre in Beijing in the lead up to the Rio Olympics. Athletes supported by this program won 34 medals (including 19 gold medals) at the 2016 Olympics. Dr Joe Klemczewski has earned degrees in physical therapy, health, nutrition, literary journalism, and health education. He is currently pursuing a masters in social psychology. Klemczewski began licensing The Diet Doc business model in 2007 and has helped develop 150 Diet Doc Weight-Loss Centers around the world. He has spoken at universities, school systems, fitness camps, medical organizations, and Fortune 500 companies. Joe was a contributing science editor for Chelo Publishing for fourteen years. His articles regularly appeared in Iron Man, Natural Bodybuilding & Fitness, Exercise for Men, and Best Body; many have been translated for German and Asian publications. He has written for numerous websites, including eDiets and Huffington Post, has contributed chapters to fitness industry books, and has edited physiology textbooks for an academic publisher. His book, The Diet Docs’ Guide to Permanent Weight Loss, co-authored with Dr. Scott Uloth, MD, was released in 2009 by Harvest House Publishing, and 50 Days to Your Best Life in 2014, coauthored with Kori Propst. Joe is a retired WNBF professional drug-free bodybuilder and a pioneering physique sport coach with more than 400 pro cards, 150 pro titles, and 50 world championships won with clients.

Laurin Conlin is an IFBB Pro Bikini Competitor, holds both a B.S. and M.S. in Exercise Science, and is the owner of Team LoCoFit. Her coaching team at LoCoFit helps clients achieve competitive success while focusing on long-term health interests through a scientific, evidence-based approach. Laurin’s mission is to redefine healthy within the fitness industry! Conlin lectures internationally on topics including nutrition, training, psychological aspects of dieting, and fitness entrepreneurship.

Danny has a masters degree (MSc.) in Nutritional Sciences from University College Cork, during which time Danny took classes in biochemistry, clinical nutrition, micronutrient interactions and physiology. Previous to this Danny also completed a BSc. Degree in Biology and Physics Education and spent a year teaching these subjects. Danny is the founder of Sigma Nutrition and head of content creation for the company. Known for hosting the top-ranked podcast Sigma Nutrition Radio, Danny is also a respected educator in the field. He has spoken at conferences and events all over Europe (including London, Dublin, Amsterdam and Vienna), as well as the United States and Australia.

Dr Cliff Harvey (PhD, DipFit, DipNat) is a registered clinical nutritionist, former world champion and world record-holding strength athlete, and researcher. He has been coaching people ranging from world champion athletes through to the chronically and acutely unwell to perform at their best, since the 1990s. Cliff’s master’s degree research focussed on the use of medium-chain triglycerides to mitigate ‘keto-flu’ and encourage faster induction of nutritional ketosis, and his doctoral research on identifying markers of carbohydrate tolerance and appropriateness of different diets to individuals. 

He is the founder of the Holistic Performance Institute, a private tertiary college, and is the author of many books including The Carbohydrate Appropriate Diet, the Ashton-Wylie Book Award finalist Time Rich, Cash Optional and The Credo: 8 Simple virtues for living with passion and purpose in the post-truth era.

Matthew White is an exercise scientist and accredited sports nutritionist with a passion for helping others to optimal performance. He mainly coaches CrossFit athletes to be fitter, stronger and more powerful, sprinkling some gymnastics on top. Matt wants to see the fitness industry in New Zealand grow and develop as a whole and nutrition coaching is one place that is in desperate need of this for the mainstream trainer. In his free time, he likes to find and eat the best burgers in town. Got a recommendation, throw ‘em his way!

Jackson is a competitive boxer, bodybuilder, rower and sports nutritionist, currently completing his PhD in Clinical & Sports Nutrition at the University of Western Australia. He has completed a BSc in Sports Science, and Exercise & Health, and an Honours degree (First Class) in Exercise Physiology. Jackson’s research focuses on novel strategies for maximising performance and muscle retention while reducing body fat. He has also directed the largest athlete weight-loss trial in Australia, and the first randomised controlled trial investigating diet breaks in weight-trained athletes.

Eric Trexler is a pro natural bodybuilder and a sports nutrition researcher. Eric earned his PhD in Human Movement Science from UNC Chapel Hill, and has published dozens of peer-reviewed research papers on various exercise and nutrition strategies for getting bigger, stronger, and leaner. In addition, Eric has several years of University-level teaching experience, and has been coaching athletes with a wide variety of backgrounds and experience levels since 2009. Eric is now the Director of Education at Stronger By Science, and a reviewer for Monthly Applications in Strength Sport (MASS).

Dr. Gabrielle Fundaro, CISSN, CHC, is a Renaissance Periodization consultant, Monash low-FODMAP certified and ISSN-certified sport nutritionist, and ACE-certified health coach. Dr. Fundaro combines her knowledge of nutrition and motivational interviewing techniques to promote intrinsic motivation and behaviour change in clients to facilitate long-term weight management and healthy lifestyles.

She believes in the importance of a plant-centric diet in addition to regular, enjoyable physical activity and cognitive exercises as part of a sustainable lifestyle free from the chronic dieting mindset. When working with individuals experiencing gastric distress, Dr. Fundaro applies a practical, personalized, and evidence-based approach to modify diet and lifestyle factors which can contribute to improved digestive comfort. She has taught a variety of courses related to nutrition for performance and health, physiology, and macronutrient metabolism. In addition to her teaching experience, she has enjoyed the opportunity to share evidence-based recommendations in international seminars, podcasts, and contributions to magazines such as Shape and Oxygen.

Dr. Fundaro is a former Assistant Professor of Exercise Science at Georgia Gwinnett College and holds a PhD in Human Nutrition, Foods, and Exercise from Virginia Tech as well as a BS in Exercise, Sport, and Health Education from Radford University. She is currently completing requirements towards the Registered Dietitian credential as a participant in the Individualized Supervised Practice Pathway of the Dietetic Internship Program of the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Centre. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, reading, spending time with her dogs, and training for powerlifting.
